Due to the snowy weather, there will be a two hour delayed start of school today. That means that schools will open two hours after their usual time and buses will pick up students two hours after their regular times. There are no before school programs and PreK classes are cancelled. We will still have our regular Wednesday early release at the usual times. Again, we will have a two hour delayed start of school in Westbrook today. Take your time and be safe coming to school today!
The Explore the Stars event scheduled for this evening at WMS has been postponed due to predicted cloud cover and low temperatures. A new date will be announced soon.

Today, our FLS classrooms whipped up delicious berry smoothies! Students had a blast helping fill the blender with strawberries, blueberries, milk, and yogurt before enjoying their tasty creations.

Please plan to attend one of the upcoming Community Conversations on how the school budget is developed. Thursday, January 30 at 5:30pm (with a spaghetti supper at 5pm) at Saccarappa School or Saturday, February 1 at 9:00am (with a pancake breakfast at 8:30am) at Westbrook High School. See you there!

We have new interactive math walls in our halls thanks to our Instruction Coach, Mrs. Elder-Bruns! Students can interactively move pieces and discuss math with their peers. Check out Ms. Doherty’s class using the math walls to practice multiplication facts.
Additionally, we had Mrs. Elder-Bruns come to a Den Ambassador meeting to discuss the math walls with our Den Ambassadors. As leaders in the building, our Den Ambassadors were tasked to mix up the numbers whenever they walk by the math walls so that students can continually practice math concepts.

More pictures of our Mindfulness assembly!

Check out these third grade writers! Mrs. Rounds’s class was tasked to persuade her to get a class pet. Students researched different pets and worked on pieces of writing to convince her. Turns out that it worked! Mrs. Rounds’s class will be getting some fish, and they spent some time working on getting the tanks ready in the classroom. Check out the students and their pieces of writing!

Cocoa the Cougar came out of hibernation to wish all of our Congin cougars a happy and safe winter break, happy holidays, and a happy new year!

In art, our kindergarten cougars drew inspiration from the Northern Lights and created these pine trees with Northern Lights using a variety of mediums with Teacher Jones!

Altrusa Club read to all the kindergarten classes yesterday through their ABC program! (Altrusa.Books.Children). This is a yearly tradition! These books are purchased by customers from Books A Million and donated to the Altrusa Club.
Thank you Altrusa Club!

Our kindergarten cougars visited the Festival of Trees today! Our cougars read different versions of the gingerbread bread man and they compared and contrasted them over the past couple weeks. This field trip was their culminating activity to celebrate all of their work. Kids enjoyed a gingerbread man snack donated by our amazing PTO, and they were able to hear a read aloud by Dr. Lancia!
