Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Check out Mrs. Armstrong’s first grade cougars who designed and created leprechaun catchers! Throughout the day, classes and teachers came to visit the classroom and students explained how their contraption would catch a leprechaun. Nice work, cougars!

Today ends our Read Across America week, but take a look at Mrs. Morowski’s kindergarten cougars who celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday by reading a variety of his books!

It’s Read Across America week! Classrooms have had some guest visitors come in to read to students. Guests have included Superintendent Dr. Lancia, Assistant Superintendent Dr. O’Donnell, Principal Mr. Bisson and News Anchor on WGME News 13 Jeff Peterson. It’s youth art month! Congratulations to one of our third grade cougars, Luke Westover, whose art will be featured at the Portland Museum of art!

City Clerk Ellis Ledoux came to talk to our 4th graders today about voting! Students got a chance to vote to name the City Voting Mascot! After a close race, the students decided to name the mascot….Bob!

Yesterday was our 100th Day of School. Check out these cougars who celebrated in style!

Did you know that we are a BARR school? Each week classrooms participate in U-Times, which are community building activities. Before break, students discussed how being different makes us all unique, and we can celebrate those differences. Students then decorated boots to represent them, and we decorated the hallways to celebrate our uniqueness! Check out these creative works of art!

Due to weather conditions, all schools in Westbrook will be closed today, Thursday, February 13. It is an old fashioned snow day with no remote learning. There will be no before or after school activities and athletics, no meetings, and no pre-K classes. Be safe in the storm!

Our gym teacher, Mrs. Murphy, put on a bowling tournament where classes competed with other classes to see how many points they could get. The class with the most amount of points would win a trophy to keep in their classroom. Our tournament winner was Mrs. McLaughlin's 4th grade class! Miss. Enman's 2nd grade class came in 2nd, and Mrs. Nugent's 4th grade class came in 3rd!

Check out Mrs. Powers and Mrs. Townsend’s 3rd graders working on research for their non-fiction writing! These cougars are working hard to be non-fiction authors!

This weekend we had a Secret Cupid come to Congin and decorate our hallways in celebration of Valentine’s Day! Students and staff walked into the building with smiles. Thank you, Secret Cupid!

The timing of today’s storm is now predicted to be heavier a bit earlier so it would be safer to close school for the day. So, all Westbrook Schools will be closed today Thursday, February 6. It is an old fashioned snow day with no remote learning. All PreK classes and before and after school activities are cancelled, including athletic events and practices. Be safe in the storm!
Westbrook Schools will have an EARLY DISMISSAL tomorrow, February 6. WMS will dismiss at 10:15am, WHS at 10:25am, and Elementary Schools at 11:20am. Lunch will be available before dismissal. PreK classes and after school activities will be cancelled, including all athletic events and the after school LEARNS program. We want to get everyone home before the snow piles up and the roads are challenging. If the timing of the storm changes significantly and it would be safer to cancel for the day, I will send an update in the morning. Otherwise, we will plan on an Early Dismissal on Thursday. Be safe in the storm!

Due to weather, road, and sidewalk conditions, we will have a 2 hour delayed start of school today, Monday February 3. That means that schools will open two hours after the regular start time and buses will pick up kids 2 hours after their usual time. There are no before school activities and PK classes are cancelled. So get a little extra sleep and be careful coming to school today!

In honor of National Have Fun at Work Day, teachers at Congin had a little fun and had a secrete twinning spirit day! We challenged our cougars to find each teacher’s twin throughout the day!
