This year our Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on Monday, April 3, 2023, Tuesday, April 11, 2023 and again on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
We are offering conferences both in person and virtually. Designate which type of conference you prefer in the "Special Request" box when you are signing up.
To schedule your conference time(s) online, please follow these simple instructions:

Thank you to our 6th grade student, Jannah Alabboodi, for her explanation of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan this morning.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, during which Muslims around the world observe a month-long fast from dawn to sunset. A fast is when you don’t eat food or drink anything between sunrise and sunset. Fasting is believed to purify the soul and help develop self-discipline and empathy for those who are less fortunate. It is considered the holiest month of the year, honoring the revelation of the Quran to the prophet Muhammad. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The end of Ramadan is celebrated with the festival of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the breaking of the fast and is one of the most important holidays in the Islamic calendar.
Many students at WMS will not be eating breakfast or lunch during Ramadan. They might go to another location but they can also choose to stay in the caf for lunch. Please be respectful of their choice to fast and do not try to encourage them to eat or drink anything during this time.
A non-Muslim person may wish someone a 'Happy Ramadan. ' But Muslims typically don't say that to each other. The Arabic greeting is 'Ramadan Mubarak,' which means 'Happy Ramadan,'

The Westbrook School Department provides interpreter services. If you would like to request an interpreter for a meeting or you require translation for reading a school form, please contact the Central Office at (207) 854-0800. After you are connected, please say the requested language and provide your name and telephone number. A staff person will return your call with an interpreter.
WHS is inviting all 8th grade families to come to the school house for Family Night on Tuesday, March 21, at 6pm. Families will tour the building and learn all about life at Westbrook High School. There will be presentations from the Athletics & Activities department, our Student Services department, teachers, and administrators. We will illuminate the myriad opportunities for students, both academic and extra-curricular. Don't miss it!
The Student Council is sponsoring a donation drive in honor of our beloved therapy dog, Finn! His birthday is March 18th and his wish is to help his furry, four legged friends at the Animal Refuge League and his two legged friends here at WMS! The ARLGP is always in need of food and items to help support the vast amount of cats, dogs and bunnies that they care for. The Falcon's Nest is also in need of our support because the shelves are bare! The Falcon's Nest supports all WMS students and is a place where students can access snacks and other meals throughout the day. All donations can be dropped off at the school! Thank you for making Finn's birthday wish come true!
The WMS PTO meeting tomorrow night will be all Google Meets. No in-person meeting due to staff needing to be at home for the meeting.

A reminder to all that our winter break begins tomorrow. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 3rd. Enjoy the break, everyone! And for all who may be celebrating holidays in these next two weeks, I wish you the happiest of times with family and friends!
Today’s storm is predicted to worsen throughout the day, so we will have an EARLY DISMISSAL at all Westbrook schools. Westbrook Middle School and Westbrook High School will dismiss students at 11am. Canal, Congin, and Saccarappa will dismiss students at 12 noon. There will be no preK classes and no after school activities.

We are aware of several regional threats to area schools. I was in communication with the Westbrook Police Department and area schools immediately. There were no reports or threats to any of the schools in Westbrook. As a precaution, Westbrook Police provided additional officers at all of our schools and staff ensured that all exterior doors were locked and attended. If information changes or a different response is necessary, we will be in touch.
