Mr. Clark and his students partnered with the athletic department to help wire the new scoreboards at the Westbrook High School baseball field!
This hands-on project gave students the opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world setting while making a lasting impact on our school communities. Next time you are at Westbrook high School for a baseball game, know that lighting up the scoreboard was a real team effort!

As they prepare for graduation, our seniors found a meaningful way to give back to the program by sharing their skills, professionalism, and encouragement with the next group of future cosmetologists.
This experience not only gave the first-year students a relaxing and fun day of pampering, but also created an opportunity to connect with the second-year students they look up to as mentors and role models. We love seeing the supportive culture within our Cosmetology program and the way our students continue to learn from and encourage one another!

Elise Biggs, Heavy Equipment Operations, is currently doing a cooperative learning experience with Gorham Sand and Gravel. She was pleased to announce she will be working there full time after graduating!
Izzy Neal, Cosmetology, will be earning her Maine licensure through an apprenticeship with our instructor, Ms. DeCosta. This apprenticeship will take place at WRVC and at Ms. DeCosta’s Scarborough salon!
Under the watchful eyes of Lt. Brooks, other expert instructors, and a variety of local firefighters, our future first responders put their classroom knowledge to the ultimate test. They tackled real heat, limited-visibility conditions, and intense pressure, practicing critical skills such as hose advancement, search and rescue, and fire suppression.
A HUGE thank you to the Hollis Fire Department for providing the facility and support to make this invaluable, hands-on experience happen. We couldn't be prouder of our WRVC students for their courage, teamwork, and dedication to public safety. Keep up the great work! 🚒👩🚒👨🚒
Last week, our Electrical program welcomed guest speakers Jim Hiltonsmith from Northeast Electrical and Russell Porter from iTool for an engaging hands-on learning experience.
Mr. Hiltonsmith shared insights into the wide range of electrical equipment, tools, and supplies that Northeast Electrical provides to the industry, giving students a deeper understanding of the materials professionals use every day.
Mr. Porter demonstrated several cutting-edge tools, including a high-tech conduit bender valued at $23,000! Our students were genuinely impressed by the innovation and technology on display!
Both guests were were excited to speak with future electricians and were impressed with WRVC's electrical program and its students.
We are grateful to both Mr. Hiltonsmith and Mr. Porter for taking the time to share their expertise and connect with our students. Experiences like these help bring classroom learning to life and strengthen connections to the industry.
Our HEO students designed the benches themselves and built the concrete forms from scratch. Even more impressive... the bases of the benches were creatively made using Home Depot buckets! Their hard work, teamwork, and creativity are truly transforming our campus. We are so proud of the dedication and talent these students continue to demonstrate each day! Thank you, Mr. Henry, for leading this work.

Our Heavy Equipment Operation students are putting their skills to work right outside our front doors! Led by their instructor, Mr. Henry, students have been improving WRVC's landscaping by cleaning up bags of leaves and laying down fresh mulch. This hands-on experience not only helps beautify our campus, but also gives students valuable real-world experience in teamwork, equipment operation, and site maintenance.
We appreciate the great work of our students for showing pride in their program and school community!
Using professional techniques, students carefully documented and labeled evidence, both inside and outside the scene, capturing key details through photography and observation. From examining the exterior of the building to identifying crucial pieces of evidence, they applied critical thinking every step of the way.
Hands-on experiences like this bring learning to life and help prepare students for future careers in the field of criminal justice.

A Sweet Collaboration
Our Culinary Arts students whisked up plenty of smiles by teaming up with our Educational Pathways Program!
Together, they partnered with our nursery school students to prepare cookies for the Nursery School’s Parent Appreciation Party. Our youngest learners had the chance to add ingredients into professional-grade mixers and scoop dough onto baking sheets under the thoughtful guidance of our first-year Culinary Arts students.
This hands-on experience was meaningful for everyone involved. Nursery students were proud to create something special for their families and our Culinary Arts students stepped into mentorship roles, building leadership skills along the way.
This was a perfect recipe for learning, collaboration, and community.
SIFMA Foundation’s flagship program, The Stock Market Game, is a curriculum-based investing simulation that engages teams of students in an exciting competition, reinforcing financial capability. Participants invest a virtual $100,000 and make real-time investment decisions, gaining a clearer understanding of capital markets, asset allocation, and wealth creation. The WRVC Business program was celebrated by SIFMA for its impressive portfolio results. This achievement highlights the power of CTE in action, as our students turn classroom lessons into real-world success and prove themselves as the next generation of financial leaders

Congratulations to our dear Westbrook-Gorham Rotarian friends for celebrating their 100th anniversary as a generous and caring organization that supports so many extraordinary causes. One of those is the WRVC Rotary House Project, which was started in 1958! This project has provided our Building Trades, Electricity, and Heavy Equipment Operation programs the opportunity to build a house and gain work-based, live learning skills.
