Afro-Latino

For the second year in a row during the month of February, Ms. Peabody-Alvarez's Level 2 8th Grade class does a month learning about Afro-Latinidad. The end result is a narrative focused on a famous Afro-Latino person. Students are able to see a range from artists, athletes, politicians, and so much more. Part of the narrative is also creating an artifact based on their person. Most choose videos of their person (performing or during a game) but they also shared a short bio and their artifacts with their classmates

A few of the Afro-Latino people highlighted are: Carmelo Anthony, Vicente Guerrero, Bruno Mars and Gaspar Yanga. You can see the student slideshow here.

Our Level 2 students, in both Spanish and French, have worked very hard all year to meet requirements that would allow them to move directly into the second level up in high school. We are very proud of our Level 2 students and the teachers, Ms. Peabody-Alvarez and Ms. Nash, who have helped them get here.
