WHS Environmental Science

Last week, Ms. Hedstrom took her Environmental Science class out to the bus loop to look at the effects of the emerald ash borer on the ash trees around our campus. The outcomes of this infestation are concerning and will potentially necessitate a rehab of the landscape at some point. However, setting aside the negatives around invasive species, this is an incredibly positive experience Ms. Hedstrom has carved out for students to learn the content in a natural setting and with real world implications.

This is also another opportunity to shout out our Dual Enrollment program. Students who take Environmental Science  with Ms. Hedstrom get a high school credit AND a college credit through SMCC. They are able to begin making progress toward their post secondary goals while still here at WHS. What a great deal!
