Last night, the school board recognized Cara Colgan as Saccarappa's Teacher of the Year. Congratulations, Mrs. Colgan! This honor is well-deserved. Thank you for all that you do for our students and for having such a positive impact on our school community.
Tonight from 5-7 p.m. is our End of Year Family Picnic! Come enjoy live music, inflatables, face painting, and a performance by Saccarappa's very own Cheering Club. We look forward to celebrating the end of the school year with all of our Saccarappa School Families. Children must be accompanied by an adult during this event.

Tuesday, June 13 is the annual School Budget Referendum. Polls are open at the Community Center on Bridge Street 6am-8pm. Information about the FY2024 School Budget can be found on the School Department website www.westbrookschools.org. PLEASE VOTE!
Saccarappa's conference room was transformed into a dental clinic for the second time this year. The Greater Portland Health hygienists worked magic with our students, and between the fall and spring clinics, they cleaned 204 sets of teeth! Show off those sparkling smiles, Shining Stars! Thank you to the Greater Portland Health Dental Clinic and to our very own Nurse Maria, for making this all possible.
This Friday is Tropical Day! Students are encouraged to wear tropical or beachy attire (no swimsuits). Bring on Summer!
Last week, at the Maine Music Educators Association Conference, the Westbrook School Department received the Dale Huff Award for Outstanding K-12 Music Program! Congratulations to the WSD Music Department and to our very own Mrs. Al Tesini, who works hard to instill a love of music in even our youngest learners.

During their last meeting, the School Committee determined that the last day of school will be a half day on Friday, June 16th.
Saccarappa's Garden Club is hosting a plant sale on Saturday, May 20th. We'll have tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, cucumbers, herbs, flowers, and more! Don't miss it!
Next week, May 8-12, is Staff Appreciation Week in Westbrook! The PTO has organized a week of fun for the staff, and flyers went home yesterday with ways for the students to contribute. Be sure to check your child's backpack for more information.
One Westbrook is hosting a Community Conversation and Pot Luck on Saturday, May 6, 1-3 pm at St. Anthony's Church hall on Brown Street. Come and meet your neighbors and share your thoughts and experiences that make Westbrook a great community! All are welcome, and interpreters will be present.

Thank you to the Saccarappa Masonic Lodge for sponsoring the Bikes for Books program. Ten very happy students left school yesterday with a new bike and helmet, and thirty bikes were given away across the city! Thank you, Masons. Also congratulations to all of the students who benefited from this initiative, either by reading more books or winning a new bike!
Family Math Night is tomorrow from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Saccarappa! Enjoy fun math games and activities with your Saccarappa School friends. All children must be accompanied by an adult. We hope to see you there!
