Map Kits

The 4th grade classes enjoyed learning about Wabanaki history through map kits borrowed from the Osher Map Library.  The students hunted for places in Maine that have Wabanaki names and completed puzzles to find out what the names mean.

They also completed an exercise where they had to think about what place names would match specific activities - for example, if you wanted to catch a lot of fish, where might you go fishing?  They used translations of the place names to determine the best answer.

Thank you to the Osher Map Library for this informative and engaging activity.  Well done, Fourth Graders!
