Maine PBIS

Saccarappa Elementary is working closely with Maine PBIS to improve the culture, climate, and achievement of all students within our school.  Many schools throughout the state have completed this training, and we are honored to be given this opportunity.

A requirement of this program is for students, families, and staff to complete a School Climate Survey so that we can identify climate issues within our school.  All of the surveys are anonymous and should take no more than 10–15 minutes to complete.

Student Survey

The student survey is given to students in third and fourth grade.  It will identify student perceptions of the school and inform our efforts at improving our school climate.  Responses are housed securely in an anonymous format with the University of Oregon Technical Assistance Center projects for evaluation research purposes.  All evaluation research projects comply with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, (343 CFR 99.31 (6)) and human subjects regulations (Protection of Human Subjects 45 CFR 46).

We desire to involve parents in their children’s education.  If you have questions, would like to review the survey, or do not wish for your child to participate, please email Principal Jones at jonesa@westbrookschools.org.

Parent/Guardian Survey

Parents and Guardians, we also want to hear about your experience with your children’s education and invite you to complete the School Climate Survey.  This survey includes questions about your child’s learning, school safety, and interpersonal relationships, as well as your attitudes about the institutional environment and your involvement in school.  Your responses will help improve student relationships, learning conditions, and the overall school environment.

We invite all parents, guardians, and caretakers to complete this survey for our school.  The survey is anonymous and takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. You can take the survey online by following the unique school link that can be found in our Thursday emails.  If you cannot access this online survey, please pick up a paper copy in your school office, complete it, and return it to school with your child.  Please submit your responses by Monday, October 2nd.

Below are translated versions of the survey to assist with completing the English version online.

All your responses are anonymous.  We cannot connect you to your answers; the results will only be reported as group responses. There are no right or wrong answers.  We just want to know about your personal experiences with Saccarappa.  Responses are housed securely in an anonymous format with the University of Oregon Technical Assistance Center projects for evaluation research purposes. All evaluation research projects comply with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (343 CFR 99.31 (6)) and human subjects regulations (Protection of Human Subjects 45 CFR 46).

As you respond to each item, think about your own experiences as a parent, caregiver, or guardian at Saccarappa School.  Please answer all the questions, or mark “I prefer not to answer” if you don’t want to answer a question about yourself.

We hope you will take the time to provide us with this valuable information. Please email Alexis Jones at jonesa@westbrookschools.org if you have any questions.

Saccarappa's total survey results will be used to inform and develop appropriate strategies, procedures, and/or programs to enhance our school climate. Thank you for your assistance in making this possible.  Also, please email Alexis Jones if you want more information about PBIS and may be interested in joining Saccarappa's PBIS team.  We value the perspectives of our parents and guardians and would love to have more parent/guardian representation in our decision-making.

Thank you for your assistance.
