BARR

We are continuing with our work using BARR this year! BARR is a multi-tiered intervention program that helps teachers keep a close eye on all students so no one 'falls through the cracks'. Our BARR work addresses the academic and social emotional needs of our students at the grade level, school level, district level and community level as needed by individual students. When students are in need of additional resources to be able to succeed, we find them!

Westbrook is the 2nd district in the country (yes, the whole country!) that uses BARR at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Why is this special? Because it creates a continued system of support for students that follows them through their educational experience from when they start with us in kindergarten until they graduate as seniors. BARR is supported by data that shows the model works for students and our own Westbrook High School was recognized as a National School of Excellence for bringing this success data to life as students transitioned from 8th Grade to Freshman in high school. What a HUGE accomplishment!

Congin is very proud to be a part of BARR because we know ALL of our students are 'on the radar' at all times. We celebrate when they thrive and circle around them when they struggle. Because of this, families can rest easy knowing the children they love at home, who are students at Congin, are well taken care of by ALL of the adults in our school!
