Cougars

Good Morning Congin Cougar Families,

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are all staying warm with this cold weather! It's looking like we are forecasted for more cold weather this weekend, so I hope you all stay warm and safe.

We have a lot going on at Congin, so here are some updates for this week:

  1. Yesterday we had a whole-school assembly and we celebrated our work with Growth Mindset for the month of January. We ended up showing 653 acts of growth mindset for the month! We will celebrate with a sports day on Friday with the Superbowl happening on Sunday! Students can come to school wearing anything sports related!

  2. For the month of February, we will be working on the theme of friendship. We discussed what it means to be a good friend, and students will be earning pieces of paper whenever they are caught being a good friend. Students can then bring these to the office, and we will be making the pieces of paper into a heart chain! We have a good of 500 by the end of the month.

  3. We will be having a literacy night on Thursday from 5:30-6:30. Come enjoy hot cocoa, cookies, and read alouds! I have attached a flyer with more information if you are interested! We hope to see you there!

  4. Our next PTO meeting will be on Monday, February 9th from 5:30-7:00pm in the Congin Cafeteria or you can attend virtually at this link! We love to see families join the PTO to support our staff, students, and community.

  5. Girls on the Run registration is now open for 3rd and 4th grade girls at Congin! This is a great opportunity for students to build healthy habits and build friendships! If you would like to register your child, please do so at this link.

  6. We are having a yearbook cover competition for our 3rd and 4th graders! Submissions must be turned in by the end of the day on Monday, February 9th. Submissions must have "Congin Cougars" and "2025-2026" located somewhere on the cover. Aside from that, students can be as creative as they want! Once submissions are turned in, one winner will be chosen. We can't wait to see what our cougars come up with!

  7. Our cougars will be having a roasted beets tasting today in the cafeteria! We can't wait to see what they think!

  8. Just a reminder that we will be on February break the week of 2/16-2/20, and our office will be closed during that time. We will be back at school on February 23rd.

  9. We are already getting ready for our incoming kindergarteners! If you are someone you know has a student that will be coming to kindergarten for the 26-27 school year, please help to spread the word! Our Information Night for incoming kindergarten families will be on February 26th from 6:00-7:00pm. Registration for students will also start on February 26th. You must register your child before you can schedule a screening! Our kindergarten screening dates will be on March 27th and March 30th.

  10. It's a great day to be a cougar!
