Each year, the Maine Department of Education collects nominations for Cumberland County Teacher of the Year. At Congin, we nominate one teacher to represent our school, and I am excited to announce that our Congin Teacher of the Year is Celina Marden, one of our kindergarten teachers.
Celina approaches her work with an unwavering commitment to supporting every student. Her positive, patient, and upbeat demeanor creates a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment for young learners. She designs and delivers developmentally appropriate instruction that meets students where they are academically, socially, and emotionally, and she collaborates closely with her kindergarten team to create meaningful, standards-aligned curriculum that is both rigorous and joyful.
Beyond her strong instructional practice, Celina is a reflective and collaborative professional who works closely with special education staff and support personnel to ensure each student’s needs are met. Her inclusive approach fosters a strong sense of belonging, and the genuine relationships she builds with students are evident long after they leave her classroom, as former students continue to greet her enthusiastically in the halls.
Congratulations, Mrs. Marden!
