Good Morning Congin Cougar Families,
Happy Wednesday! I hope this email finds you well and that you are staying warm in all of this cold weather! We are getting close to holiday break, but we are staying busy at Congin. Here are some updates for this week:
It is Wednesday, so that means it is an early release day! Students will be dismissed at 2:20. Please plan accordingly.
We are continuing our work with kindness for this month. Students are earning lightbulb stickers when they are caught being kind. Additionally, we have been challenging students each day with an act of kindness on the morning announcements for our "Twelve Days of Making Congin Bright." Students have been challenged to invite someone new to play outside at recess, help pick up trash, etc. Our cougars are doing a great job!
Thank you to the Altrusa Club who came to read to our kindergarten cougars and donated free books for students to take home! On Monday, December 15th, the Kiwanis Club will be coming in to read to our kindergarteners and will also be donating books to our students! We have such a supportive community!
After school Game Club will be coming back to Congin! We are going to start with our 3rd and 4th grade students. These sessions will be held on January 6th, 13th and 20th from 3:30-4:30. I have attached a flyer and will be sending one home with students to sign up. These permission slips will be due on 12/17. Not all students who sign up will be able to participate. We will choose students in a random lottery and you will be notified by December 18th whether or not your child will be able to participate. If you want to have your child participate, you must ensure that you are able to pick up your child at Congin at 4:30. There will be no buses taking students home. Additionally, we are looking for volunteers to help with game club, so if you are willing to volunteer, please reach out to me!
The district star party with Northern Lights Planetarium that was scheduled for December 10th has been cancelled due to weather. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Looking to support our PTO? Our PTO will be stationed at Books a Million in South Portland this Saturday, December 13th from 10:00am-4pm. If you do some shopping, our PTO will wrap your items and will have an opportunity for any donations to be accepted! We hope to see you there!
We will be on holiday break from December 22nd until January 5th. There will be no school.
It's a great day to be a cougar!
Sincerely,
Marc Bisson
Principal
Congin School
