Good Morning Congin Cougar Families,
Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is off to a great start. The weather has been amazing, so I hope you have been able to enjoy some family time outside!
We have been working hard at Congin! It's that time of year where teachers and students are continuing to build on routines, structuring their academic time, and assessing students to find out where students are academically. The students have been doing a great job over the last few weeks.
Here are some updates for this week:
It is Wednesday, so that means it is an early release day. Students will be dismissed starting at 2:20, so please make sure you know how your child is getting home.
Our Congin Cougars are continuing their work on responsibility and are still earning responsibility paws this month. The students are doing a fantastic job and our posters are getting filled with stickers that the students have earned. We have a goal of 400 by the end of the month.
Don't forget that this Sunday is our Twin Swirls fundraising event being put on by our PTO! 20% of proceeds from 3pm-8pm will be donated back to our PTO. PTO representatives will also be there from 3-6pm where you can be given a chance to win a $25 gift card to Twin Swirls! We hope to see you there.
Join us on
October 3rd at 10:15 AM
at
Olmsted Field
for a new Westbrook tradition: Meet at the 50! The
Kindergarten Class of 2038
will meet the
Senior Class of 2026
at midfield, symbolizing the passing of the torch from one generation of Blue Blazes to the next.
Our PTO will be having an Ace Hardware fundraiser on October 4th! Come visit Ace Hardware during the afternoon. There will be food and an opportunity for you to provide a donation which goes directly back to our PTO, and you will get a coupon for a percentage off your Ace Hardware purchase!
Ted McInerney, meteorologist from WMTW, will be coming to Congin on October 8th! Students and families are invited to come to the live broadcast at 5:45am! This is something we have done every year, and the students get excited to have an opportunity to be on TV. This year, we will even have hot cocoa and some treats for students to enjoy! We hope that you will be able to join us!
Our Congin Picture Day will take place on October 17th! Be on the lookout for flyers to go home to be able to order pictures from Strawbridge in the next few weeks. Picture retakes will be taking place on November 5th for those that miss our picture day if you would like a retake!
Please make sure all beginning-of-the-year paperwork is turned back into school. Thank you to those who have already turned them in!
Our overall attendance last week was 97.21%, and shout out to our kindergarteners who were at 98.78%! Remember that attendance is imperative, and we will be following our protocol when students are out for certain periods of time, even if they are excused. Thank you for sending your children to school each and every day!
It's a great day to be a cougar!
Sincerely,
Marc Bisson
